Health Programs

Food water and medical care are the basic rights of every human being. But unfortunately countries like Pakistan, lack adequate resources to provide the required infrastructure and facilities of complete health care. There is a serious shortage of public hospitals while the private clinics are out of public reach. In such circumstances common man is left with little hope whenever he finds himself face to face with any medical condition.

Malik Riaz, chairman Bahria Town, a visionary and a social person have stepped forward to rescue the poor and needy people by providing them free of cost general health facilities. He has devised a social welfare system to facilitate the under privileged class along with people of affluent sections of society. The initiative of mobile medical teams, to help patients of poor localities and villages by providing free medical checkups and medicines is a part of this extensive health program. The teams of these mobile hospitals consist of trained doctors, lady doctors and attendants. Mobile hospitals in Muzzafargarh, Rajanpur, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Ghotki, Kishmore, Mianwali, Akora Khattak, Diara deen and Layyah have already been set up. There is one fully equipped medical aid camp in Risalpur.

Long terms comprehensive program for the less fortunate IDP’s at the Swabi camp is announced by Malik Riaz. Relief funds of Rs 8 Million to serve over 40,000 patients are provided. Patients suffering from diabetes, hyper tension, tuberculosis, flu and fever are all treated with utmost care and professionalism. Medicines and ambulances are available to assist these patients. Moreover another medical mission with mobile medical unit, doctors and paramedical staff was sent to Tharparkar for a period of six months. This unit carried ECG, ultra sound machines, examination laboratory and dispensary along with them, to deal with emergency and epidemic situations.

Apart from these general health facilities, a chain of most advanced hospitals is being established in Pakistan. These hospitals equipped with modern machinery are run by highly qualified doctors. Three of its units are already operational in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Funds exceeding 9.7 Million per month are provided by Malik Riaz for the smooth functioning of these hospitals. Rs.200 Million has so far been spent on the treatment of patients. Free medical support is provided to the poor and needy. Recently 40 children suffering from hearing impairment were operated free of cost while an amount of 17 to 18 thousand dollars was spent on the treatment of each child. Most sophisticated medical treatments including the Renal transplant, Bone marrow transplant, Open Heart surgery, Chemotherapy, Radio Therapy and Dialysis facilities are available here along with general medical facilities. To keep abreast of modern advancements and technology a conference of top cardiac surgeons was organized to facilitate research and growth infield of cardio thoracic and vascular diseases.

In addition, free awareness programs on first aid, kidney care and other health care issues are regularly organized for school students, teachers, employees and other citizens. A medical symposium during the 3rd Health Expo was conducted which consisted of free consultancy camps and free medical tests. Thousands of people took advantage from the free services offered. Moreover regular financial assistance to health care organizations and NGOs€™s is also provided. These include Al-Shifa Trust, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, Sahra Trust, SOS Village.

Malik Riaz has literally healed the lives of millions through his magnanimous contributions. The effect of his health welfare programs are far reaching as each day more and more people are benefiting from free mobile hospitals. Yet he believes that there is much more to be achieved, to improve the health status of common people and to enable them to become positive contributors to the society.
